Henryk Wąsowski
I was born in 1944 in Warsaw.

After graduating from the Żoliborz-based (a Warsaw district) J. Lelewel Secondary School, I studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of Warsaw University; next I began learning organ playing at the Warsaw 2nd grade J. Elsner Music School. In 1968-72 I was the organist of the Dominican Church at Freta street in Warsaw. For a brief time I worked as a clerk at Bank Handlowy, in the year 1974/75 employed as senior assistant. In later years I embarked on Classical studies at Warsaw University. After graduating, I worked as Latin language teacher in several Warsaw secondary schools, i.a. in 1982-1986 at the A. Frycz Modrzewski Secondary School. In 1980-1985 I also teached piano in the Warsaw Music Society. In 1982-1987 I was organist at the Franciscan Church at Zakroczymska street in Warsaw. In 1988-2004 I taught Latin language at the S. Sempołowska Secondary School in the Warsaw district Żoliborz. From 1985 I was employed as lecturer at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (former Academy of Catholic Theology), where I taught classical languages. I retired in October 2009.

In 1979 I joined the Polish Philological Society, in 2006 – the Confederation of Polish Nobility.

Of modern languages, I speak medium level English, and Russian.

My interests include, in addition to music and arts of which I am a great admirer, also the broad history of culture.

Some words about my family:

The Wąsowski coat of arms Awdaniec, is a noble family from the middle ages with Mazovian roots, its oldest history is associated with Kurzątkowo, region of Ciechanów. In early 15th-century sources, the members of this family are already stated as the heirs of villages Połazie and Koszewnica, in the area of Liw. In 1431 by way of exchange, they acquired the village Wąsosze, situated in the Liw region, parish Czerwonka. This village became the nest of the Wąsowski family, and the name as such is derived from the village. Some members of this family live in Wąsosze to this day. The fact of using the coat of arms Awdaniec by the Wąsowskis since the oldest times finds confirmation, for instance, in the Liw court record of 1477, the content of which is known today from an article published in the prewar Monthly of the Polish Heraldic Society (unfortunately, the original document was destroyed during World War 2).

Gens nobilium dominorum Wąsowski de clenodio Awdaniec a villa Kurzątkowo, in terra Ciechanoviensi sita, originem suam trahit. Iam quinto decimo saeculo ineunte, ut documenta antiqua tradunt, gentis auctores sedem ac domicilium in terram Liviensem transtulerant, ubi villarum Połazie et Koszewnica heredes facti sunt. Anno 1431 possessionum commutatione facta villam Wąsosze prope Liw in parochia Czerwonka sitam obtinuerunt eamque postea posteris suis tradiderunt. A villa Wąsosze, quam adhuc nonnulli mei gentiles incolunt, nomen quoque gentilicium ortum est. Gens nobilium dominorum Wąsowski in terra Liviensi habitantium antiquitus armis Awdaniec rite utitur, id quod vel adnotatione iudiciali anno 1477 conscripta evidenter confirmatur. Cum exemplar authenticum secundo bello mundano exustum sit, nunc illa adnotatio non nisi in transcriptione ante id bellum confecta atque commentariis quibusdam periodicis, res heraldicas tractantibus, inserta asservatur.
